Rethinking Laboratory Waste

Reduce Cost And Waste

Through Innovation

Every year, over 4 million pounds of plastic pipette tips are disposed of in landfills globally after a single use. This drives significant environmental pollution and unnecessary costs. The typical laboratory consumes several thousand pipette tips every day for samples and assay procedures, due to the lack of options for safely cleaning plastic consumables. Such high consumption of plastic tips adds $25,000 to $1.5 million in annual operational costs for laboratories worldwide.

At Grenova™, we know that high consumption of plastic tips is an excessive, avoidable operational cost for companies and a significant contributor to environmental pollution. This is why we decided to create devices that enable labs to recycle and wash pipette tips in large quantities. Grenova devices offer labs the option to reuse plastic tips several times, cutting associated costs by up to 90%. Grenova devices are safe both for the user and the environment, without producing hazardous waste or gases. Our experienced team at Grenova offers on-site consulting services to provide guidance for labs to reduce their consumable biohazard waste and move toward sustainability.

TipNovus is a bench top, automated, high-throughput washing device that enables labs to wash and sanitize contaminated pipette tips in large quantities for reuse. TipNovus offers labs a choice to reuse plastic pipette tips several times, cutting associated consumable costs anywhere from 50%-90%. TipNovus' unique method of wash and sanitation is safe for both the user and the environment.

The TipNovusMini is an automated pipette tip washer that includes all of the standard TipNovus cleaning and drying technology in a compact 1-rack system. The Mini is ideal because it has a considerable throughput, small footprint, and it is capable of integration with most automated liquid handling robots.

The TipNovus™ Dryer is used to expedite the drying process of the tips. This process is achieved by utilizing a concentrated airflow through the tips along with an internal heating system. For temperature sensitive applications, the dryer’s maximum temperature is controllable and can even be deactivated while retaining the systems airflow. This device also has an adjustable dry time, allowing the user to determine the length of a dry cycle. One dry cycle has the capability of drying four tip racks at a time.

Tip Carrier

The Grenova Tip Carrier answers the question of where to store used tips after transfer.

  • Reduces contamination risk of re-racked used tips ready for the wash
  • Designed to integrate with the liquid handlers
  • Holds up to 5 racks of tips

Custom Bench

The TipNovus™ Cart is used to create an independent and mobile station for the TipNovus™ system. It can hold a complete system, including the dryer, as well as shelving units to store cleaned tips and wash reagent containers.

Self Regulating Reservoir

For an accurate wash, non-pressurized liquid is necessary. If in-house DI water is utilized, the Grenova self-regulating reservoir is an essential component, as it will depressurize the water as needed. This will eliminate the users need to constantly refill a DI water container.

Hand Pipette Cartridge

This single-rack eject cartridge is ideal for hand pipette tip applications. Once pipetting is completed, tips can be discarded into this closed rack to achieve organization before being transferred to the TipNovus for washing.

The cleaning solution we offer is safe on tips and the environment. GrenoClean is conveniently pre-dispensed and packaged which reduces preparation time. Our trade secret solution has been proven to clean a variety of types of contaminants and act as a stabilizing buffer, eliminating contamination risk and maximizing the operating effectiveness of the TipNovus system.

LEAF software is an intuitive, user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) that allows users to program their own custom wash protocol for the TipNovus. LEAF software enables users to select the appropriate cleaning solutions, number of wash cycles, and sonication and UV sanitation features for the custom wash protocol on TipNovus™.

Mass Spectrometry: Applications to the Clinical Lab (MSACL)

The MSACL Conference provides a forum for discussion of developments in the clinical application of mass spectrometry. While immunoassay methods have dominated clinical analyses, mass spectrometric methods are now providing analytical results more rapidly and with less expense. MSACL brings together experts in the field with those driven to explore and understand clinical mass spectrometry, with the goal of facilitating mass spectrometry's adoption as a health care tool and accelerating the realization of improved patient care and reduced health care costs.
